The Divine Tower of East Altus stands as one of the most unique structures in Elden Ring due to its dual purpose and distinct geographical placement. Situated along the outskirts of the royal capital, reaching this monolithic tower requires players to navigate through specific storyline gateways. Understanding the precise path ensures that Tarnished adventurers can easily restore the powerful Great Runes tied to this location.

Finding the Divine Tower of East Altus Map Location

The tower is situated to the far east of Leyndell, Royal Capital, positioning itself directly between the outskirts of the city and the Forbidden Lands. On the world map, it appears off the eastern coast connected by a long stone bridge running southeast. Unlike most towers that require clearing early-game dungeons, this landmark remains locked behind mid-game story progression.

To locate the entrance, players must first gain access to the eastern output of the capital city. The massive structure is visible in the distance as you head toward the Grand Lift of Rold. Knowing where to transition from the main capital streets is key to spotting the correct walkway.

Step-by-Step Route from Leyndell Capital

Start your journey by traveling to the Avenue Balcony Site of Grace inside central Leyndell. Head up the nearby stairs, turn left onto the main avenue, and follow the road northeast to open the giant double doors. Proceed up the staircases through the ash-covered grounds until you reach an elevator building on your left.

Ride the elevator up to reach the grand elevated bridge spanning across the eastern valley. Instead of taking the path down to the Forbidden Lands, turn toward the southeast pathway leading across the bridge. As you cross, you will be transported into a dark arena where you must defeat the Fell Twins before continuing to the tower doors.

Reaching the Tower During Endgame Progression

Players who have already advanced past major narrative events, such as burning the Erdtree, can still access this tower without difficulty. You simply need to fast-travel to the Forbidden Lands Site of Grace located just beyond the capital. From there, step into the large nearby elevator building and take the lift back up.

Once at the top of the lift, exit through the southern doorway to reach the bridge pathway. This shortcut allows late-game players to bypass transformed city areas entirely. You can then cross the bridge directly to reach the front entrance of the tower.

Great Runes Activated at the Tower Top

Upon entering the Divine Tower of East Altus, step onto the central elevator to ascend to the highest sanctuary. This site is special because it is the only divine tower capable of empowering two distinct Great Runes. Players can activate both Morgott's Great Rune and Mohg's Great Rune at the same sacred spot.

Activating Morgott's Great Rune grants a significant boost to your maximum health pool when equipped with a Rune Arc. Meanwhile, Mohg's Great Rune confers blood-blessing mechanics to summoned spirits during combat encounters. Utilizing these powerful benefits provides a substantial combat advantage throughout challenging endgame encounters.
